Upcoming week!

This week is turning out to be pretty life changing and full of exciting events!
I started looking into going to UVU and taking some classes to get me on my way to being a teacher!
I guess I need to start studying up, because since I wasn't planning on going to an actual college and had no need to take the SAT, I will now have to take a placement test in order to enroll. I'm pretty nervous. I'm also looking into getting grants or something to help pay for my school so I don't need to take out another student loan!

Institute classes are starting Tuesday! And I'm really excited to get started and meet new people, I'm ready to move on and get going on my life!
As for the moving out, I'm still hoping to move out soon and finally be on my own! I have a girl in my ward who has moved out, we used to be great friends in elementary and middle school and I think she is such a cute girl, she was going to look into me moving in with her and another one of her room mates, and I'm hoping that maybe that will be a good option for me, as long as I can find another job to help me pay for it all! It's going to be crazy, and life is going to be changing on me pretty quick, but its what I've been wanting to happen for a long time, if it weren't for the darn money that I need in order to make it all happen!

This week its just me, my mom, and Landon in the house. Alexa left with a friend and her family to Colorado for 5 days, Hayden and Katelyn are with my grandma and grandpa McQuivey and cousins camping and having fun at their house in toquerville! While my dad just left again for work out in Pleasant Valley.
When Alexa gets back from Colorado it will almost be her birthday, she has a friend who's birthday is the day after and they always talk about throwing their birthday parties together, so we thought it would be fun to through a surprise party for the both of them! We are having a mutual friend of both of them invite about 8 people and having the girls come here for a girls night of pampering, movies, and treats! I just got done ordering some really cute feather extensions and sheekee toes, that we plan on doing at the party! I think the girls will have a blast! I'm excited to see the reactions!

More to Offer

This week at the salon I was able to get a kit together and FINALLY be able to offer feather hair extensions. I've already gotten a lot of girls that are interested!
I'm glad to be able to offer new things and I love how new, fresh, and interesting the industry can be! I like the idea that the industry is always changing and I'm always able to learn new things with it, and expand my horizons.
So yes, I am now offering feather hair extensions and am very excited to get started. I'm going to be offering $5 per feather you would like in your hair or a bundle of five, shorter feathers for only $15!

Lemon Cheesecake!

One of my favorite things to do is look up new recipe's and try them!
Yesterday It was my turn to give to a girl in the salon on her Birthday, typically we buy a small gift and make a treat for all the girls that come and celebrate in the salon with us.
I stopped off at a cute little shop on Spanish Fork main one day to see if I could find anything for her birthday that could go in her home, I found a cute set of block letters that had cute sayings on them like Love deeply, laugh often....
When it came to the treats I didn't want to make the typical chocolate chip cookie and I didn't want to go and buy a treat from the store, so I searched online and found a recipe that looked wonderful!
LEMON CHEESECAKE!

I got working on them, and it was actually a really simple recipe! I had a lot of fun taking some time in the kitchen and learning how to make something else than I normally would!
All the girls loved it and I even had my mom passing around a few recipe's at work.

Life keeps changing

I'm at that age where everything seems to change so quickly. Boyfriend, no boyfriend, job, and new jobs, trips, and major life changing decisions, along with some not so major life changing decisions.
I have tried to start a blog before, but rather than write in a journal like I have wanted to for so many years I decided typing it all up and adding pictures sounded so much more fun!
In all truth I always have good intentions on keeping up on my blog, but always seem to forget that I even have one to update.
I hope this time around I can keep things updated and everyone in the family can get a front row seat to everything going on in my life, as I remember to post it of course.

I sat down yesterday and wrote down a list of things I would like to accomplish and do in my lifetime, some of these include major things, and others I can accomplish in a couple months, such as;

1. Traveling. I would love to see the world (even if that does end up just being by myself.) I think my first destination I would like to visit would be Rome, next maybe Australia, followed by England, or Paris.
2. Settle down. I know I'm still young, and I have all the time in the world, but getting married sounds like the kind of adventure I would love to start in the near future and I'm of the age to start preparing and looking. I'm getting really tired of the dating scene and hope that one day I can put all of that behind me with a great guy.
3. Start a family. Of course most of you know that I am in love and adore little children, I would be thrilled to one day start a family of my own (probably later on down the road that is).
4. Learn a new language. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this, but because the "gift of tongues" is not one of my gifts, I have a super hard time catching on and retaining the new information when it comes to language, but I think learning a new language would be an excellent goal to set out and accomplish, now all I need to do is find the right resources to learn it, I think that Italian would be super fun to learn and would be great to know for my future trip to Rome I hope to take one day.
5. Lose 15 pounds. With my under-active thyroid I have a hard time keeping my weight down and at a regular weight, my weight has been fluctuating more than it used to, and I noticed that when I go running I tend to keep it more even. So along with that I think it would be great to loose just a few pounds too and get to a weight that is perfect for my height.
6. run a marathon. I have been wanting to sign up for a marathon call the moonlight half. It's one that they do up in Mapleton starting when its dark and I think that goes up Hobble creek canyon to the golf course. I don't think I will have enough time to train for it this year, since it is in August and that's only 2 short months away, but later on in the year or next year I would like to train for a marathon. I really think that feeling accomplished and finishing would really build on my confidence and help me realize that I can do things that seem hard. I would like to really push myself.
7. Make new friends. As most of you know, I was never the most outgoing person growing up, I had a hard time making new friends, and so as one of my goals I would like to find a way to make new friends. I'm at a time in my life where It would be great to have good friends where I can have fun!
8. Go back to college. I graduated cosmetology school, which counts as college and I have a degree in that, but I would really like to expand my knowledge. Weather that means going back to college and just taking a few classes here and there to work towards a basic degree or going back and working towards getting the teaching degree i have always wanted I want to expand my knowledge and get that experience so that later in life I can say that I did it, and have options. What better time to do that, than now, when I'm not married and have the time and resources to do that. I know it's probably not going to be easy, and going to be stressful at times, but I think in the end I will love that I was able to do it.
9. Go on a date with somebody I don't know. This goes along with making new friends. This goal will help me be more open to possibilities and really help me become even more outgoing and give me an opportunity to expand my horizons, since I am not yet moved out of my parents house.
10. Sign up for institute again. I signed up for institute this past summer and I loved it! It was a great experience and really fun, but I haven't signed up again since. I think right now where I'm still not super busy I would like to get some more classes in and have some way to start my goal of making new friends and going on a date with somebody that I don't know.. I happened to finish this goal this morning, and signed up for 2 institute classes instead of 1! I signed up for 2 classes a week they are Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and I'm excited to get going next week!
11. Read a great book. I keep going to the library looking for a great book, and never seem to find one I can really sink my teeth into anymore, so one of my goals is to spend the day at the library and really find one I can't put down. I'm sort of a nerd in the way that I love the library and spending time sitting in the isles and reading books. I think that all of that somewhat stems from my grandma McQuivey because we were always doing great and fun things growing up. (including, renting out movies from the library rather than blockbuster or something). ha
12. Move out. Don't get me wrong, I love it at home, but I think as everyday passes I would like to have that experience of being on my own. So hopefully one day soon I can get the means to move out on my own. That leads me to my next goal though.
13. Find a third job. I love working at the salon, but where I am just starting in building my clientel its hard for me to really make any money, because most of the time any money I do make there is going into boothrent and product for my next clients and maybe a few fun things. This will also help me with my goal to move out and my next goal which is..
14. Buy a car. Since I turned 16, I have been borrowing and using my parents cars. because since I was about 17 I started beauty school and haven't had the time since to find a job where i can save up my money enough to buy a car of my own, so this will be a great goal to work towards.
15. Build a bigger clientel. I want to find ways to get more clients. I don't have a hard time getting walk in clients to come back to me in the salon for the most part, I will admit some of them I purposely do not want to come back to me, but the ones I want to keep coming back to me, that has not been a problem, but its a matter of getting those walk ins because there aren't a whole lot of them, and in Utah they say every family at least has someone in their family or knows someone who is close to them who has gone to beauty school and does hair. I want to find a way to meet new clients and really get my clientel going!

That's some of the goals I have so far, and I hope to keep adding and crossing things off of my list as I go.
I'm excited to be a point in my life where there are so many directions I can go and paths that I can take and so many options, I'm looking forward to my life starting and all the challenges and amazing moments to come!
